Dr. Ryan Dunnigan is a licensed Police and Forensic Psychologist who specializes in evaluating and treating Law Enforcement Personnel, Firefighters, Dispatchers, Federal Agents, Military Personnel, and First Responders.  He performs Psychological Evaluations for law enforcement agencies, fire departments, correctional facilities, probation departments, military branches, paramedics, dispatchers, police chaplains, and select security and executive protection firms.  Dr. Dunnigan is listed on the Peace Office Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Evaluator List.  

Dr. Dunnigan provides Secondary Psychological Evaluations (Second Opinions) as well for candidates whom were disqualified during their hiring process due to being found psychologically unsuitable during the initial psychological evaluation.  In California, Police Officer candidates and many public safety personnel candidates have the legal right to an independent psychological evaluation for consideration before a final determination of disqualification can be made by the potential hiring department or agency. This secondary evaluation process regularly assists candidates in getting back into the hiring process and back on their way to securing their desired position in law enforcement or public safety.

The Dunnigan Assessment office is conveniently located in San Rafael and Dr. Dunnigan and his staff,

understanding the importance of the evaluations to all involved parties, can facilitate the evaluations in a

timely fashion.  We can typically schedule and perform evaluations within a few business days.

Dr. Dunnigan is also a well known Law Enforcement presenter and a leading expert in workplace

violence, crisis management, and threat assessment.

Remote, web-based psychological testing is now provided for all clients.  Accordingly, we are able to provide some psychological testing and assessments for clients throughout California and even across the United States in certain cases.
